“Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.”(Revelation 22:12)

Endings are happening every day. The end of something means a new beginning. One can have the expectation that good and bad times will begin and will come to an end. The start of a service project, marathon race, etc. must have a finish. Endings do sometimes come with a reward. The reward could be a gold medal, a certificate of completion, college degree, or just an internal satisfaction of finishing what was started.

God has made promises to believers that start a relationship with Him. One such promise is eternal life through His only Son, Jesus. Jesus also makes promises to those who keep faith in Him until His return. One promise is a reward for serving Him and showing love. Love is helping the sick, hungry, thirsty, naked, and prisoners. These are commended by the King that will come soon.

The ultimate reward is the blessed inheritance of being in the presence of almighty God throughout eternity. Another blessed reward is continuous joy with the absence of sorrow and pain. Also, the faithful overcomers will have the tree of life with fruit to eat and healing in the leaves that is along the sides of “river of the water of life.”(Revelation 22:1) Jesus is coming to bring these great rewards.

There are rewards for unbelief and the absence of a relationship with God. Some people refuse to believe in Jesus or obey the Gospel and will receive their rewards. There is eternal separation or death. There is continuous pain that causes weeping and gnashing of teeth. There is fire, sulfur, and brimstone. There is no ending to these rewards. They will be forever and ever.

Challenge: Believer in Christ Jesus, the Holy Spirit is reminding you of the Word of God! Your faith and service unto God even if unnoticed by others will be rewarded by Him.

“Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.”(Revelation 2:7)
