My Personal Autumn
Leaves are turning from a lush green to a myriad of hues before falling off and the tree falls to sleep. People do the same. In all relationships people turn a different shade than you had previously noticed and then the relationship falls into slumber.
At least with trees here in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, we get to enjoy beautiful shades of red, yellow, orange, and even a pretty shade of brown. Also, after you have tended to the leaves in your yard you can take a great big run and go and jump. Sometimes one of the greatest sounds and smells is the smell of the sweet decomposing leaves from the trees and the sound of the crunch beneath your feet on a crisp clear morning.
When tending to your personal relationships you don't get to enjoy these small indulgences and the colors they turn are usually unattractive. I realized something though, I am ready for a winter. I am in my autumn, the leaves are falling off the tree and I am preparing for a long winters slumber in which I will awaken brighter, stronger and better than the seasons before. I spent too long in a hot dry summer where I didn't nourish myself the way I should and now I will use this autumn to prepare for a winter of restoration.
This is not a bad thing, this is a very positive and healthy thing. Every season here in the nature if the summer and spring were just right we get to beholden a splendid thing from nature. I implore you before the season of winter is quickly upon us, take a walk through the mountains and enjoy natures bounty. I am raking my own personal leaves and am quickly preparing to slumber and awake anew. If you are going through something similar remember, just because the tree isn't bearing fruit doesn't mean it is dead, it may be in a state of vegetative slumber. When the new winds blow warm breezes and bountiful sunshine a new and better fruit will be upon the tree.
