Sound familiar? Even if that’s not your story, Steve Solomon’s nothing-is-sacred humor on My Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish & I’m In Therapy! is bound to make you laugh — certainly at him and maybe even at yourself.
Debuting in Charlotte at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center’s Booth Playhouse March 16 – 21, Solomon has performed My Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish & I’m In Therapy! in over 50 cities around the United States, Canada and Bermuda. Often using jokes that have been around for a long time, he introduces the audience to the members of his multi-ethnic family through hilarious impersonations and spot-on comedic timing.
A one-time physics teacher and a school administrator, Solomon reminds you of a high school buddy still telling the same jokes in their middle age. Reminiscent of the humor that made The Golden Girls a hit, the comedian leaves no one unscathed. Poking fun at his chain-smoking sister’s emphysema, his parent’s sex life and even his daughter’s training bra, his sets are heavily sprinkled with jokes about elimination, from the anticipated results of his grandmother’s prune juice to the gaseous tendencies of the family dog.
You don’t have to be Jewish or Italian to enjoy My Mother’s Italian, My Father’s Jewish & I’m In Therapy! The characters are universal and the jokes, although not too new, will get you laughing.
