By my eye, today is Hoku, in the month of Makali`i, in the rainy season, Ho`oilo. We are still celebrating the Makahiki. This morning, sunny but nice and cool, is good for planting trees. Root plants and bananas will be prolific, though rather small. All things are reproducing abundantly! Fishing is good. In Hilo, higher high tide was about 03:21 this morning, and low tide will be around 10:25. This afternoon's high tide is about 15:14, and only 0.8 ft. This evening's lower low tide will be about 21:40, and dip to -0.2 ft.
The sun sets into Māhealani this evening. Plants will be large and prolific. Currents run strong, but fishing is good.
Some sayings about the moon:
"Pali ke kua, mahina ke alo," Back like a cliff, face shining like the moon, a poetic description of a beautiful woman.
"Kau ka mahina," The moon is shining, a teasing reference when a bald head is seen.
Enjoy the day!
