My Grammy Predictions: Record, Album, Song & Best New Artist

With The Grammy Awards fast approaching this Sunday night, I am continuing my annual tradition of my predictions on who will and should win on music's biggest night.  Some of the biggest artists in the world will be performing, from Rihanna to Coldplay, Bruno Mars to the rumored Adele (all nominees as well).  Here is who I think will will each award, and who should as well.  Be prepared for some good snarkiness.

Record Of The Year-

Adele- "Rolling In The Deep"

Bon Iver- "Holocene"

Bruno Mars- "Grenade"

Katy Perry- "Firework"

Mumford & Sons- "The Cave"

Who Will & Should Win- Adele. This was her year.  Heck, even 2012 seems to be her year as her album is still number one and has sold close to 7 millions copies. "Firework" and "Grenade" are great but not Record worthy.  Bon Iver should just be thanking his lucky stars he is nominated, and "The Cave" is a somewhat close second of winning this but not so much. "Rolling" was the biggest record of 2011 and was number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for quite some time.  Genius song, genius artist.  Enough said.

Album Of The Year-

Adele- "21"

Rihanna- "Loud"

Lady Gaga- "Born This Way"

Bruno Mars- "Doo-Wops & Hooligans"

Foo Fighters- "Wasting Light"

Who Will Win- Adele.  I think she will sweep, but you never know.  Every song on this album is like a piece of art, and she brings something so new and inventive to the music industry that it seems like a very needed breath of fresh air from all the stanky pop that is currently filtering our radios.

Who Should Win- Adele & Foo Fighers.  Love Adele don't get me wrong.  The Foo Fighters are way overdue for this award, as they have been around for close to twenty years now.  "Wasting Light" is their best effort in quite some time, and they are one of the few bands who are keeping modern rock afloat.  Yes, Adele should win this, but I have no problem with Foo winning as well.

Song Of The Year-

Kanye West, Rihanna, Kid Cudi & Fergie- "All Of The Lights"

Mumford & Sons- "The Cave"

Adele- "Rolling In The Deep"

Bon Iver- "Holocene"

Bruno Mars- "Grenade"

Who Will Win- Adele.  I always equate this category to which is lyrically the best written of all five.  Each are very well written, but Adele takes the cake for this.  To so beautifully write what it feels like after a break-up in such a new and thoughtful way gets my vote by far.

Who Should Win- Kanye.  This should've been in the Record category instead of this, but this is my favorite song of his by far in a long time.  The video is great too, but he spits such an incredible verse after verse that if the Grammys feel a little hip-hop friendly they should give it to him.

Best New Artist-

Nicki Minaj

Bon Iver

J. Cole

Skrillex

The Band Perry

Who Will Win- Nicki Minaj.  I don't think she was really a new artist this year as I've heard of her for quite some time now, but come on it's Nicki.  She makes everyone else's song even better and her own music is quite good as well.  She is a force to be reckoned with and the first truly new and innovative female MC since Lil' Kim.  Enjoy the award!

Who Should Win- Nicki/The Band Perry/J. Cole.
Skrillex and Bon Iver are the two odd men out here.  Miguel should've been nominated in this, it's a shame he wasn't.  I love all three for many different reasons, and seeing as Esperanza Spalding shocked the world by winning last year over Bieber and others, expect a repeat this year with Bon Iver. At the same time, I'm happy with the three I've listed to win.
