The Ganzfeld Experiment is a technique used in the field of parapsychology to test individuals for extrasensory perception or ESP. In the 1930's this technique was devised by Wolfgang Metzger, as a part of his investigationinto the Gestalt Theory. Ganzfeld Experiements have yielded some results that present some of the strongest quantifiable evidence for telepathy to date.
The first time I ever saw this test being done was on Paranormal State. I was intrigued.
On September 17, 2011 we went out to Spencer, Indiana to investigate the Owen County Home. My good friend Tony Abney had just recently got the lease on this location and we could not wait to get out there and check it out. Tony had told us about setting up for someone to do the Ganzfeld Experiement.
I was all for it and could not wait to try this out. I was a little nervous about it at first. I was about to be inside the building alone. The idea of this experiement is to put someone in the building for 30 minutes, have someone outside holding a trigger object. You and your trigger person should focus on each other and you should try to guess what the trigger object is. All the while your vision is blocked and your are listening to white noise.
My person holding the trigger object was Joe Garavaglia. I can honestly say that I had a hard time focusing on Joe or the object he was holding. My mind would only let me focus on the fact that I was alone in this building. The more I tried to think about Joe, the more I knew I was alone.
Throughout my 28 minutes of this test I felt the floor shake, as if there were kids running across it, I felt something push down on my right shoulder. At one point it felt like there were many people staring at me. The last thing was the uncontrollable shaking that my body started to go through in my last few minutes. It was not that cold in there. My legs were just shaking and I think it started to freak me out and I need to go.
I had a lot of fun with this and will do it again sometime. My conclusion of this test is that it was all psychological. It is amazing how your brain and your other senses reacts when 2 of your senses are cut off. If you ever have the opportunity to participate in this experiement, do it!
