As I stroll along this foster home journey it occurred to me these kittens offer the best of both worlds. When Sarah Hammond, TLAC Foster Coordinator, gave the kittens their names she appropriately defined their characteristics because they are exact opposites. Town Lake Animal Center located at 1156 W. Cesar Chavez in Austin, Texas has a foster home program called ‘Project Starfish’.
Sarah sends email messages to foster parents about pets requiring care. Her email title for the kittens currently under my foster care was “The Odd Couple Looking for foster care”. Oscar and Felix are truly the odd couple. They are adorable to watch and I really enjoy taking pictures of them. Their sleeping poses are precious. Some of their pictures are posted on my Facebook page and I believe it is time to begin seeking a permanent home for them.
During my radio show featuring Todd of Virtual Petwork, it came to my attention that this new network would be ideal to showcase my foster kittens. The Virtual Petwork offers an adoption corner where I will post information about Oscar and Felix. Todd, his wife Katy, Teeny and Tootsie (their canine kids) reside in Austin but this pet network is worldwide and free.
In the body of Sarah’s email message it stated, “Oscar is a little shy and reserved and Felix is the gregarious one of the pair, very outgoing and social”. Here are their short bios.
Oscar is a cream color tabby who enjoys sleeping completely stretched out. He prefers to play hide and seek. Batting around mice toys filled with cat nip is one of his favorite pastimes. Oscar is long and slightly heavier than his extrovert sibling. Brushing his body and cleaning his ears are simple tasks to complete. He is truly a peaceful feline.
Felix is a brown tabby who voraciously eats and drinks. He walks around my ankles in a figure eight style. His meowing and purring captures my attention. Running around attacking toys or chasing Oscar is his method of burning calories. I wonder if Felix was the runt of the litter. He loves attention!
Both feline boys enjoy being held. Even though they are complete opposites they can’t seem to be separated. Oscar and Felix frequently nurture one another.
