Must-try desserts for National Dessert Month

Let Them Eat Cake
Finally—a holiday worth celebrating! October is National Dessert Month, and in honor of my new favorite reason to cram myself with the sweet stuff, I’ve compiled a list of the best desserts in Buckhead—the ones you have to try or risk being called a sugar- month Scrooge.
Molten Chocolate Souffle Cake with Pistachio Ice Cream from BluePointe- I am a little biased when it comes to most desserts because I have a minor obsession with all things chocolate. But when it comes to chocolate desserts around Buckhead, this takes the cake. The pistachio ice cream adds a lightness to break up the rich flavor of the warm soufflé cake. Don’t bother asking for two spoons—you won’t want to share this one. 3455 Peachtree Road
Gelato (any flavor) from Il Bacio- Don’t let the strip-mall location fool you, this gelato is some of the best. The smooth and creamy texture takes me back to the week I spent in Italy this summer, where a cup of gelato and a glass of red was a sufficient dinner. Maybe it’s time to bring that tradition stateside. 2571 Piedmont Road
Chocolate Lava Crunch Cakes from Domino’s- I don’t care that these sinful little suckers come from a delivery pizza place. They are delicious--crunchy on the outside, smooth and rich fudginess on the inside. And at just $3.99 for an order of two, these treats are easy on the wallet, although not so much on the waistline. 3175 Roswell Road

Sour Cream Cheesecake with Blueberry Compote from Market- Recently the highlight of my meal at Market, this updated take on the traditional cake is creamy, delicious and has just the right amount of that sour cream taste to make addictive. 3377 Peachtree Road

Cupcakes from Tin Lizzy's- While not often thought of as a dessert destination, this infamous taco spot recently gave locals another reason to love the joint when they unveiled their Margarita and Chocolate Cupcakes.  Moist and large, the Margarita Cupcake fuses the flavors of Key Lime Pie with Birthday Cake.  At only $3 each, you'll have plenty left over to pair it with one of the House Margaritas. 3639 Piedmont Road
