MUST Ministries opens new thrift store to public in Marietta

MUST Ministries recently opened a thrift store at 1407 Cobb Parkway in Marietta. Proceeds from donations sold in the 4,600 square foot store will benefit all of MUST's missions including the homeless shelter, emergency meals, clothing, employment services, seasonal outreach (Summer Lunch Program), and groceries. The idea for the thrift store was born out of the many donations MUST Ministries receives from generous supporters.

The store sells clothing, housewares, furniture, toys, baby items, and small appliances. MUST has had a "clothing closet" for the community for many years. Clothing, shoes, toys, and baby items are rationed out to those in need using a free voucher system. For example, a family of four can choose a certain number of items of clothing per person. Donations for the clothing closet became so great, MUST Ministries decided to set up a thrift store to sell some of the extra donated goods. Not only does the thrift store create an extra stream of revenue for the charity, but the community now has a nice new thrift store to shop in. MUST clients will now have the option to buy items from the thrift store as well as receive free vouchers.

The new MUST Ministries is a win-win for everyone. Clients can retain their dignity by shopping in a low-price store (rather than only receiving charity), donors can contribute unwanted or unneeded items, the public can purchase nice items at a low cost, and MUST Ministries has created a new stream of income. Everybody wins.

Thrift store hours are Tuesday - Saturday from 10 AM - 6 PM. Prices are as low as $2 per item. Look for coupons in Sunday's MDJ. Donations can be taken to the MUST Donation Center at 55 Chastain Road, Suite 110, Kennesaw, Tuesday-Saturday, 9-5.
