Musicians band together for Haitian releif

With the horrific earthquake in Haiti and all of the releif efforts happening globally, rock bands around the world are getting involved to do their part and raise funds for releif.  Musicians and artists have always been a huge source for charity and disaster releif reaching to a base of young adults and teenagers who aren't parking their butts in the front room for the evening news.

Haitian born Wyclef Jean (Fugees) has been in the forefront of these efforts with his Haitian charity Yele Haiti and is encouraging fans and twitter followers to donate $5 by simply texting the word YELE to the number 501501.  Yele Haiti works to distribute foods and mobilize emergency releif.

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has followed suit, urging fans to donate to the International Aid Organization along with other musicians such as Alicia Keys, Arcade fire, Grizzly Bear, Adam Lambert, Wilco, Nada Surf, The Roots, and rapper Common.

Blink 182's exclusive shirt for Haitian releif.

Blink 182 has released an exclisive Haiti charity T-shirt with all proceeds from the sale of the shirt to go to the Red Cross.  The shirt, featuring the band's rabbit mascot running with the Haitian flag is $15 and only available on the bands official online store.

All in all tens of millions of dollars have been raised by various organizations (Wyclef Jean's charity has already earmarked over $1mil alone so far) and it's amazing to see so many people and musicians banding together in such a hellish time.
