Musicians, author to celebrate life of George Harrison

Musicians from the Alan Parsons Project will join an ensemble of Indian Kirtan musicians for “Here Comes the Sun” – The Musical, Mystical Journey of George Harrison" at 8 p.m. Feb. 11 at Hofstra University’s John Cranford Adams Playhouse, South Campus, in Long Island, N.Y.

“Here Comes the Sun” features music from The Beatles era, Indian Kirtan music and meditative chanting and power point technology in an examination of Harrison’s spiritualism and humanitarian work. 
 
Musicians performing include singer-guitarist Godfrey Townsend, who has performed with Jack Bruce of Cream and John Entwistle of The Who. Hofstra Hinduism instructor Joshua M. Greene, who studied yoga with Harrison in the early 1970s and authored the biography  “Here Comes the Sun,” will emcee and narrate the show.

Tickets are $10 each, general admission. Proceeds benefit a scholarship fund for the School for University Studies. For tickets and more information call the Hofstra Box Office at (516) 463-6644.

    Oh, why can't we get a tribute like that here in Detroit? THere are Beatles fans here. YOu can't walk down the street without seeing an image of the FAbs hanging in some shop window or go to any musical event without at least one Beatles song getting played. and with the Krishna Temple here in the beautiful Fisher Mansion, it's perfect for a George tribute.
