Breaking News: New information has just been made available regarding Brian Edward Krebs, 38, the man who was charged with premeditated murder and four counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Krebs stabbed, Jimmy Pagano, a well-known musician and music promoter, in the throat to death, after becoming very upset about his bar tab.
The murder occurred on Sunday in Fishtales, a North Beach bar, which was only three blocks from Krebs apartment.
One week before the killing of Pagano, Fort Lauderdale police were called to Krebs oceanfront rented apartment at Galt Ocean Club by neighbors who said they were afraid Krebs was dangerously unstable. Krebs had just destroyed his own home in an enraged fit of anger. Krebs had already fled by the time the police got there.
On April 9, 2011, it was reported that Krebs had smashed the toilet bowl with a hammer, stabbed a butcher knife into the wall, shattered glass tables and tossed a lamp through a window. After the incident; however, Krebs seemed apologetic and even went to Home Depot to buy a new toilet.
After witnessing the scene, police issued a “be on the look-out” advisory to warn other officers that Krebs was on the loose and could be dangerous. At that time, there was no warrant out for Krebs, and he was not charged with a crime.
It was not until the stabbing incident of Jimmy Pagano and the injuries to four other men, when the police were called again for an incident involving Krebs. Krebs was then arrested and at this time, he is still being held and treated at Broward General Medical Center.
Those who knew Krebs reported that he was emotionally unstable and on heavy medication to control his mood swings. Some who knew him said that when he wasn’t mixing his medication with alcohol, he was a nice man.
Jimmy Pagano’s friend and talent agent, Judy Blem, stated that there will be no funeral service for Pagano. Blem shared that she and others in the local music business were planning a memorial concert for Pagano and that they were setting up a fund to assist Pagano's autistic son. The date and venue of the concert have not yet been set.
Jimmy Pagano: May you rest in peace.
