MusicCircle Storyteller Series (6 Weeks of Songwriting Bliss)

Being a good songwriter often means that you are also a good storyteller.  These two creative talents seem to consistently walk together hand in hand interchangeably.  Behind every great song is an interesting story and behind every great story there lies the potential for perfect songwriting material.  Anyone who has had the pleasure of watching the writers perform their own personal catalog knows how entertaining and personable such can be.  If you are among the majority who appreciates Nashville songwriters, both the established and the emerging, I highly recommend you attend the MusicCircle Songwriter Series that will be taking place over a course of 6 weeks.  Each Friday night will feature a songwriter presenting you the story behind your favorite songs that they have written.  Each songwriter will be joined by one of Nashville’s most elite up and coming talents forming a creative pairing and a fun filled evening.  The MusicCircle Storyteller Series is as follows:

Tonight, October 8th will be featuring Rivers Rutherford and Billy Dawson.  Rivers, who I have always considered my personal songwriting hero has written several number ones and has received many cuts with a diverse array of artists including Brad Paisley, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Rodney Atkins, Gary Allan, Trace Adkins, Gretchen Wilson and many more.  In my previous MusicCircle article, I introduced you to Billy Dawson who is a well noted guitarist and songwriter currently working on his debut CD.  He also recently won a national contest through Clear Channel Radio and was given the opportunity to perform on the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon.

October 15th Chuck Cannon will be joined by Mason Douglas.  Chuck, who notably began his songwriting career with a # 1 for John Michael Montgomery has been able to enjoy continual success as a well known writer for Toby Keith. Chuck is in good company as Mason Douglas is another standout talent that I recently introduced you to.  He is an up and coming country music performer and recently released his debut album entitled “My Wild Heart.”

October 22nd Aaron Barker will be sharing the stage with Lainey Edwards.  Like Rivers and Buddy, Aaron has experienced several number ones with Nashville’s most well known acts ranging from George Strait to Lonestar, along with many others.  Alongside Aaron will be one of Music City’s most talented female singer songwriters that I have run across in a long time.  Lainey Edwards who was also featured in my last article is the president of Taloa Entertainment, LLC and she released a CD in 2009 called “Lucky Girl” in which she co-wrote all the tracks.

October 29th Like his fellow storyteller Series participants, Clay Mills has also watched his creations go to number one.  He has written for Diamond Rio, Little Big Town, Darius Rucker, Trisha Yearwood and others.  Joining Clay Mills is the multi-talented Lauren Rainey.  Lauren is not only a successful singer/songwriter but she also landed  her own show on CMT’s broadband network “Loaded” shortly after coming to Nashville as well as being a reporter for “CMT Insider.”  In addition, she has recently been the host of the show for Rascal Flatts 2010 “Nothing Like This” tour.

November 5th  If you have been faithfully reading my Examiner articles, you may have noticed that Kent Blazy is one of my personal favorite songwriters to support and to promote.  Kent who has written several of Garth Brook’s biggest hits has also experienced a recent #1 with Chris Young, along with cuts with Danny Gokey and others.  Fittingly joining Kent is talented singer/songwriter Spencer Tenney who is also a well known and featured act around town.  He will be bringing a performance that you won’t want to miss!

November 12th  The Storyteller Series will undoubtedly conclude with a bang as Chris Wallin and Matt Jenkins take the stage.  As you may have guessed, Chris is yet another one of Nashville’s most recorded songwriters.  With an impressive resume of number ones with artists such as Kenny Chesney, Montgomery Gentry and cuts with numerous others, it is safe to say that he will have some good stories to tell.  Also appropriately concluding the Storyteller Series is Matt Jenkins that I also featured in my last article.  Matt who is also working hard to fulfill his dreams has already graced the stage of the Grand Ole Opry and is working on his debut album.

There you have it!  Great music with great stories.  If you love music and appreciate the depth in a song, be sure to mark your calendars for these events.  This unique one of a kind series be held in an intimate and unique setting at the James Gang Company in White’s Creek, TN.  Each show starts at 8:00 and has a $10 cover charge.  These prolific storytellers hope to see you there!
