Musica Pacifica is a quartet of four instrumentalists (Judith Linsenberg, recorder; Elizabeth Blumenstock, baroque violin; Charles Sherman, harpsichord; and Shirley Hunt, baroque cello and viola da gamba) with a shared interest in the historically informed performance of early music. They are all familiar faces in San Francisco through performances with both Philharmonia Baroque and the American Bach Soloists. They have also performed with other prominent early music ensembles both nationally and abroad.
They are currently celebrating their twentieth season, and that celebration will extend to San Francisco next month with a performance in the Noe Valley Chamber Music series (currently in its nineteenth season). The program they have prepared is entitled Dancing in the Isles, The Sequel! As the title suggests, this is a follow-up to their 2010 CD release, Dancing in the Isles, which combined traditional music from England, Scotland, and Ireland with compositions by James Oswald, Matthew Locke, Nicola Matteis, Francesco Veracini, and Henry Purcell.
This new selection of similar material will be given at Holy Innocents Episcopal Church, 455 Fair Oaks Street, on Sunday, February 19, at 4 PM. Tickets may be purchased at the door for $20 with a $15 rate for students and seniors. They may also be purchased online at the Tickets Web page for Noe Valley Chamber Music.
