The native New Jerseyan Jessie Baylin gave Nashville a stellar performance at The Basement last Wednesday night. Baylin graced the stage with her talented band and singer /songwriter Courtney Jaye who backed up Jessie with gorgeous harmonies.
Jessie sang all new songs including 'Hurry, Hurry', and 'Yuma' that will be on her new album. She also sang her classic hit 'Leave Your Mark' from her album Firesight. Jessie also paid homage to Dusty Springfield with a beautiful rendition of "Some of your lovin".
This gorgeous talent knows how to entertain her audience with her stage presence, and sultry vocals. Her music is inspired by generations of female musicians in pop, blues, rock and jazz and you can faintly hear Jessie giving props to her music mentors. I imagine a venue filled with the likes of Dusty, Stevie, Nico, Marianne Faithfull, Nina Simone and others captivated as Jessie pays respect to their music that has helped her find her own unique style.
As of now, Jessie Baylin will continue her residencies for a few more dates in Los Angeles and Eugene Oregon. Try and catch her performance at The Bootleg Theatre in LA tonight, October 11th and October 25th if you can. Get your tickets now because if history repeats itself the shows will sell out quickly.
