Music mogul Clive Davis reveals he's bisexual in new book

Music mogul Clive Davis reveals in his new book released this year that he’s bisexual. The Grammy winning producer opened up about his sexuality to Katie Couric.

Clive Davis stated that he’s been in long-term relationships with men since 1985. Prior to that, he had never even looked at man in a romantic way.

While he may not have looked at men romantically, Davis said his first sexual encounter occurred in the 70’s. He wrote, “On this night, after imbibing enough alcohol, I was open to responding to his sexual overtures.:

Fans of Davis’ book, “The sound Track of My Life” discovered that men didn’t appeal to Davis sexually until he was in his 50’s. “For over 50 years, I never had sex with a male.”

Davis went on to say that, “It wasn’t repressed. I had very good sexual relationships with women.” Speaking to Katie Couric, Davis said that questions about his sexuality are something he’s never had to face.

“Never for me, had this very maligned and misunderstood subject of bisexuality come up.” Clive Davis admitted to being involved with a male doctor for 13 years and a second man for seven years.

Davis will not be releasing the names of the men he’s been in relationships with in order to protect their privacy. When it comes to women, Davis hasn’t had any problems there either.

Clive Davis has been married twice. He married his first wife, Helen Cohen and they had two children, Fred and Lauren. Davis then married Janet Adelberg and they two had two children, Mitchell and Douglas. Davis divorced his second wife in 1985.

When it comes to music, Davis told the Harvard Law Bulletin what he loves the most about his job. “Certainly that first appraisal, to be able to spot a unique talent and say yes, and then to see that artist become a worldwide success. There’s a lot of steps in between, you know. So it’s hard to leave out the process. But the discovery is the most exciting.”

Over his decades in the music industry Davis has worked with Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson, Alicia Keys and the late Whitney Houston. Clive Davis is currently the chief creative officer for Sony Music Entertainment.
