With football season quickly approaching, fans are gearing up for amazing seasons in both the college and national football leagues.

Almost as big a draw as the games themselves however, the musical elements of the broadcasts have become big business.

Faith Hill Back to Sunday Night Football
Networks are placing an increased emphasis on opening and halftime musical acts.

One such case is NBC’s Sunday Night Football broadcast. The network has announced that country mega-star Faith Hill will perform the opening theme, “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night,” for the third season.

The tune will debut during this year’s first Sunday Night Football episode on Sept. 13, during which the Green Bay Packers will host the Chicago Bears.

In a post on her website, Hill states: “It really is an honor to be asked back to do the Sunday Night Football open again. It’s been fun to film and everyone at NBC has made me feel like a part of their family. I’m looking forward to the season.”

The show’s producer, Fred Gaudelli, states: “Faith Hill singing ‘Waiting All Day for Sunday Night’ is a signature of Sunday Night Football. We are thrilled to have one of America’s most popular recording stars back with NBC for a third season.”

Football: A Hill-McGraw Family Affair
In a 2007 interview, Hill told the Associated Press: “I truly am a football fan. Particularly men find it hard to believe that women can be big fans of football, but I love it.”

She continued: “Around our house in football season, there’s a big routine. Dinner has to be planned out around the game, homework has to be finished. It’s an ‘all gather around’ the television time.”

Hill’s husband, Tim McGraw, has also sung a football theme. He once modified the lyrics to his hit, “I Like It, I Love It” to correspond with the Monday Night Football halftime highlight segment.
