"Music is art. Music is culture. Music bubbles just below the surface in most of our lives. While it may not pay the bills, there would be a gaping hole in our collective psyche without it." Dennis "Zab" Zyvoloski director salmon bay eagles and Seattle Teen Music.

The Pacific Northwest has witnessed the birth and re-birth of multiple musical genres since the 1940s. The Washington Blues Society (WBS), and MusicBox Project, both 501[c]3 non-profit corporations, believe in their responsibility to continue this legacy. Three years ago, WBS began with other interested groups and individuals to foster hands-on, educational experiences to the next generation of committed youth musicians regardless of their financial abilities.

That was the genesis of WBSs' scholarship program known as Passing The Torch. Through association with Seattle Teen Music they have identified talented teen musicians. Passing the Torch fundraising events have sent deserving youth musicians to the world class week-long Centrum Acoustic Blues Week in Port Townsend for the past several years.

Friday August 29th The Washington Blues Society and the Music Box Project inpartnership with STG and The Neptune Theater present, Music Marches On a showcase of American Music "Baptized in the Blues", past, present and future in a multi-media show for one night only.

Act I: “The Musical Gateway” is a fast paced, multi-media, theatrical journey from past to present illustrating an American social order that compels us to join the ranks. The music of the past eras represents the essential thread that moves society beyond the status quo.

Act II: “The Future of American Music” is a concert set showcasing some of the most talented up and coming members of Seattle Teen Music and past recipients of the prestigious Washington Blues Society “Passing the Torch” scholarship.

The show is complementary; there will be a VIP section for those who wish to consider partnering with the WBS and Music Box on there our goal. To be seated in the VIP section of the theater contact: education@wablues.org with your name, organization, if any, and number of guests who will attend with you for VIP seating.

All donations to the Passing the Torch program through WA Blues Society as well as MusicBox Project are tax deductible.
