Music’s finest strutted down the red carpet at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, February 10 for the 55th Annual Grammy Awards. Despite the much talked-about memo that strictly “asked” stars for modest coverage, ladies and gents alike showed up looking ready to wow. And wow they did. Among those who stood out were Katy Perry, J. Lo, the always gorgeous Rihanna, and J.T. doing what they do best--looking sharp and ready to entertain.
Stand out performances included Elton John with Ed Sheeran, Justin Timberlake’s musical comeback with the baddest of the bad Jay Z, Alicia Keys burning it down with Adam Levine, and the moving tribute to Bob Marley featuring Rihanna, Bruno Mars, Sting, and Ziggy and Damian Marley.
When it rains it pours--for Fun. who made it rain (literally) with 6 nominations and 2 wins. Other artists who took a gilded gramophone home included Adele, Mumford & Sons, Gotye, Jay Z and Kanye West, Drake and Beyoncé (complete list of winners).
The Grammys are always a night to remember. With last year’s ceremony taking on a sombre tone following the death of Whitney Houston, this year’s show, hosted again by LL Cool J was not only full of moving performances and acceptance speeches; the 55th Grammys proved a lasting tribute to all the iconic artists who’ve influenced our lives and inspired our dreams through their art that moves, grooves and shakes us all the way down to our very core.
