The Music City Food and Wine Festival, being held Sept. 20 and 21 at Public Square Park and Walk of Fame Park in Nashville, has assembled the biggest lineup of celebrity chefs ever to hit Music City at one time, including local favorites like Arnold Myint and Trey Cioccia and nationally recognized names like Michael Symon and Jonathan Waxman. Today, they upped the ante even more by announcing the lineup of chef giving cooking demonstrations at the festival.
Here are just a few of the chefs scheduled to give demonstrations during the festival:
Country music superstar turned Food Network host Trisha Yearwood will kick off the first day of cooking demonstrations with Your Piece of the Pie. The "Trisha's Southern Cooking" host will teach attendees how to make one of her favorite desserts, Skillet Apple Pie.
One of the biggest names to grace the Music City Food and Wine Festival is Masaharu Morimoto. A star of both the Japanese and American versions of Iron Chef, Morimoto is considered one of the world's leading experts in fish preparation. For his panel, Morimoto will share some of his sushi making secrets with attendees. From filleting to plating to knife skills, there isn't anyone better to learn from than Morimoto.
Bizarre Foods host and chef Andrew Zimmern is known for seeking out and trying any community's best kept culinary secrets. So it's no surprise that, in a Nashville-based cooking demonstration, Zimmern is going to take on one of Nashville's most famous culinary inventions; hot chicken. With a demonstration called Globally Hot Chicken and a palate that has traveled to every corner of the world, you can bet Zimmern is going to bring numerous variations on hot chicken from various regions' cuisines.
Iron Chef Michael Symon is one of Food Network's fiercest competitors, winning the first Next Iron Chef competition and going on to post victories over some of America's best culinary minds. For his Music City Food and Wine Festival demonstration, Symon will take on one of the most delicious but difficult to master Spanish dishes, paella.
Jonathan Waxman is one of the most respected and admired culinary wizards in the world for his innovative techniques. Waxman will be familiar as a frequent judge on Top Chef and as a competitor on two seasons of Top Chef Masters. Waxman is the owner of New York's highly regarded Barbuto restaurant. His cooking demonstration is titled Mother Knows Best and will see Waxman share cooking tips he learned from his mother Adele, the namesake of his new Nashville restaurant. Waxman will pull double duty, also hosting a demonstration on Sunday called Five a Day My Way, which will offer tips to get your recommended daily allowance of five fruits and vegetables a day with some different spins on traditional produce.
Aaron Sanchez is a face familiar to any fan of Food Network. A regular judge on the hit show Chopped and a former Iron Chef competitor, Sanchez is Food Network's resident expert on Latin cooking. His demonstration, entitled Husky Business, will feature a Latin cuisine staple that is one of the most widely available ingredients to Nashville residents, corn. From huitlacoche tamales to corn cakes with lobster, you can bet this demo will give those ears picked up from the local farmer's market a new lease on life.
Food Network star Tyler Florence has been a household name to any food tv fan for years for his appearances on How to Boil Water, The Great Food Truck Race, and Tyler's Ultimate. A James Beard Award winner, Florence will bring a West Coast spin to corn with a demonstration titled "Corn Perfected."
Tennessee loves to grill so expect a big crowd when chef and grillmaster Tim Love presents his demo called The Art of Burning Food. The owner of numerous restaurants including the grilling mecca Woodshed Smokehouse, Love will share his years of experience at, as he calls it, "burning food" to improve any backyard griller's technique.
