By me going to college in Atlanta, I was able to meet and create a variety of life one friendships, and many of the friends that I have meet while attending Clark Atlanta University have gone on to accomplish major and big things in their careers. I would love to introduce to some and re-introduce to others a young man who has been breaking barriers within the entertainment industry. He has come a long way since attending Clark Atlanta University.
Genesis, better known as DJ Marley Waters, is a Boston native who is now residing in Los Angeles, California. He came to Los Angeles on new career opportunities and is known for creating worldwide sound in music. He spins up a progressive, trapstep and super bass 80's that is sure to hypnotize any crowd. Waters currently DJ's at The Room in Hollywood on Monday nights where he gets the crowd "turned up".
Since being on the West Coast, Waters is adjusting to the lifestyle of Los Angeles very well:
"I love the East Coast, that is where my hometown is, but I'm adapting to the cool ways in L.A. It's cool being out here on the West Coast and learning how they run the industry out here. I'm getting acquainted. There are also a lot of beautiful women and good things to do."
Waters emerged into the music industry at a young age where he started off dancing with the dance crew, Status Quo. They were blessed to perform on several network stations and shows such as Americas Best Dance Crew (ABDC), America's Got Talent and Good Day America. From there, he went on to songwriting and producing records for platinum and award winning artists, and the rest as they say is history in the making.
"From there I just elevated to producing music, writing and djing. It's all about evolution."
In addition to djing and producing, Waters is will be releasing his third mixtape on October 29 entitled, Sex and Millions. Sex and Millions will be compelled of slow tempos that work their way up. This EP will be perfect to listen to in the club or the bedroom.
"Sex and Millions is really dope and the ladies are going to love it. It entertains a lot of purposes. I went in on this project and it has some really great artists on it."
Waters is also in the process of working on several other projects as well. Besides Sex and Millions, he is working with several record labels and independent artists by helping them to brand their selves in the industry. He is also working on another mixtape that will be reggae influenced called, Black Paradise.
"It's really cool. There's a lot of things that I've been working on. Everything is coming along and I've been meeting different artists. Ya'll are going to love Sex and Millions, I promise you."
During these next few years, Waters plans to continue to release more music and letting the music speak for its self:
"I just see progress. I know what I'm worth. I know what I have to do. I'm going to let the music speak and keep the music coming. Everything is about my life transpired though music, and you're either going to hate it or love it."
Waters advises those who want pursue a passion in the entertainment industry to know themselves and to perfect their craft so that they can be the best of the best:
"My advice is to just be confident. You have to be you. It's a dog eat dog world out there, especially here in L.A. I'm just 23 and have come far for my age, but it's still a progress, but you have to be honest, by you and be an animal out there. And of course you have to be talented and make sure you're always working hard on perfecting your craft to stay ahead of everyone else."
