The South Carolina State Museum will host another edition of its ever-popular Museum Roadshow on Saturday, January 18.This is an excellent opportunity for people who want to know more about grandmother’s silver or the chair you bought at an antique store or the Kewpie Doll you found in the attic.Appraisals will be given from 9:30 AM-4:00 PM

Inspired by PBS’s “Antiques Roadshow,”the program will offer informal (verbal) appraisals on a variety of objects. Museum curators and local experts will be on hand not only to discuss items but also to provide tips on caring for the objects.

Participants are responsible for moving objects from their vehicles to the Museum’s atrium. The Museum assumes no liability for loss or damage to any object.

Tickets are available and are based on the number of items evaluated with a maximum of 4. One ticket (1 item) is $20 ($15 for museum members), 2 tickets (2 items) $30 ($25 members), 3 tickets (3 items) $35 ($30 members), 4 tickets (4 items) $40 ($35 members). Tickets are available by phone by calling 898-4999 and will be available until 3:30PM at the door. You can also get more information by calling 803-898-4952 or emailing

Be advised that the Museum is undergoing renovations and the main entrance facing Gervais Street is closed. The temporary entrance is on the west side of the building facing the parking deck and the Congraree River.
