Muscle hour

Working out was a New Year's resolution for many people.  Perhaps you may have started the new year out strong and went to the gym 3-5 times a week.  Then life got in the way.  It can be incredibly difficult to find the time or motivation to work out.  Finding a fun exercise class with a motivational instructor could be one way to keep your resolution.

Becky MacGregor, NASM-CPT, AFAA Group-EX  & Personal Trainer, has over 18 years of experience teaching group classes.  She has over 16 years of experience as a personal trainer.  Becky is a fitness instructor at the New Mexico Sports & Wellness Midtown.  You can find her early Monday mornings teaching her favorite class, Muscle Hour

Here are a few tips for beginners looking to try out the Muscle Hour:

  • Show up a few minutes early to speak with the instructor and let them know that you are new, so that they can advise you on how to approach the class for the first time.
  • Take it easy! There is a learning curve.  Just do your best and it will get easier every time.
  • Use the modifications.  The instructor will be able to show you how to modify more difficult movements to fit your fitness and ability level.
  • Don't overdo it!  Don't feel you have to do everything the instructor does, or even what the person next to you does.  If you do too much too soon, then you will pay for it the next day.  Too many times people overdo it and wake up so sore that they won't want to continue their fitness regime.

Becky is a fun and friendly instructor with loads of experience.  You can see for yourself at 9:30am Monday mornings at the Midtown location.
