Welcome back! After a hiatus and un-retiring more times than Sugar Ray Leonard or fellow Louisville native Muhammed Ali, I've returned to post on Examiner.com.
More names starting to surface on the Racer basketball coach searching. I throw out a couple at Racerhoofbeats.com. WPSD-TV says via Twitter that Mid-Continent coach Winston Bennett has had contact with Murray State.
Neal Bradley also has a update.
Bottom line: Steve Prohm is the front runner, but nobody is expecting an announcment real soon. The Murray State Board of Regents meets Friday and there is a little chance an announcement would be made tomorrow. WPSD said Murray State athletic director Allen Ward told them that he did not expect to name a coach by the end of the weekend.
(Memo to Allen Ward: Might check on the initials of the prospective coach children before hiring. Billy Kennedy evidently had his eye on College Station for a long time.)
Former Racer and Morehead State assistant coach Matt Grady is back in the coaching game, joining Steve Masiello's staff at Manhattan.
Around the league, with Belmont entering the OVC, Brian Nielsen of The Times-Courier has a plan on splitting a 12-team OVC into two divisions, and speculates about the future of Jacksonville State and Tennessee State while SIUE athletic director Brad Hewitt thinks the league could be heading to 14-teams. Jacksonville State continues its search for a new athletic director.
