Stoker Olukotun Williams, 24, of Hecksher Ave., will be arraigned Sept. 8 after being charged with second-degree murder and first-degree attempted murder.
The bizarre shootout with cops started at 4:50 a.m. on Sept. 7, when cops were called to the MacArthur Inn on Veteran’s Memorial Highway in Bohemia for a call of a woman shot in the face.
Two officers from the Fifth Precinct arrived to the motel and knocked on the door of one of the rooms. Williams reportedly opened the door and immediately began firing at them. The officers – who were not injured – returned fired, but Williams fled from the scene. He was soon apprehended nearby.
Police said Williams was struck in the arm with a bullet. He was treated at nearby Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue and released into police custody on Saturday.
Inside the motel room, police found the body of 24-year-old Shalece Cunningham of Bay Shore. Police said Cunningham was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene by the Suffolk County medical examiner’s office.
Two of Cunningham’s friends were also in the room at the time of the shootout, cops said. Neither was injured.
It was unclear if Williams knew Cunningham or why the group was staying at the motel.
Williams will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip.
