Murder in Japantown

This police bulletin was released at around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 19th, 2013....

At approximately 5:30 PM (Saturday) the victim was driving his black 4-door vehicle in the area of Fillmore and Geary when he was fired upon multiple times. The victim crashed his vehicle into a parked vehicle. The suspect ran to a white or silver vehicle and fled the area. Officers arrived on scene and rendered medical aid until paramedics arrived. The victim was transported to SFGH, where he was pronounced deceased at approximately 6:15 PM. Homicide investigators and CSI responded to the scene. The investigation is ongoing and active. Pedestrian and vehicular traffic was (were) impacted in the area of Fillmore and Post.

The victim is a 26-year-old male. The medical examiner's office will be responsible for releasing his name.

The suspect is outstanding. Suspect is described as a black male wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to call San Francisco Police. They can use our anonymous tip line at 415-575-4444.

We were glad to know the suspect was "outstanding", although in what isn't clear. Presumably in his or her anonymity.
