The Muppets are coming to movie theatres next American Thanksgiving, instead of Christmas 2011. Co-starring with the Muppets are Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Chris Cooper, and Rashida Jones.

Confirmed cameos are Alan Arkin, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Billy Crystal, Wanda Sykes, Ricky Gervais, Emily Blunt, Jack Black, and Zach Galifianakis. It's almost become a sport for the entertainment media to randomly shout out celebrities names, and claim they're in the film. Lady Gaga, Ed Helms, Jane Lynch and Danny Trejo's names have all been bounced around.

A Mickey Rooney cameo has already been filmed, on location. Other scenes were filmed on the Jim Henson Company lot, even though the Muppets have been purchased by Disney.

With the release of Tangled this year, the three best Thanksgiving openings of all time are from Disney. The Australian release is rumoured for December, though that may be moved up, in this global economy.
