Mung bean used in Chinese cooking protects against sepsis saving lives

Inflammation is necessary to cure wounds and infections, but too much inflammation can damage organs and tissues and lead to diseases like sepsis. 750,000 Americans suffer from the disease each year and 28-50% die from its complications (attacking liver, lungs, brain and liver) costing the healthcare system $17 billion annually, making it imperative to discover ways to halt persistent and constant inflammation.

The mung bean contains deoxyribonucleic acid

The neutralizing protein mediates and protects against the constant inflammation of tissues and organs. Dr. Haichao Wang and his colleagues, Shu Zhu PhD and MD, and Andrew E. Sama PhD at the Feinstein Institute found the mung bean, a native of India, used in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Chinese cooking to contain HMGB1 and validated the effects of the bean and its healing qualities in their scientific studies, proving the bean to be safe and non-toxic for treatment of sepsis.

The Feinstein Institute has dedicated its studies to finding suitable treatment of sepsis in patients. The institute has made an aggressive study of the prevention and identification of sepsis and categorized it as a medical emergency and 35% or affected lives in the past four years.
