The Rockford Register Star has an opening for a multimedia journalist to produce content for all platforms and work the digital desk as needed. The City of Rockford is 150,000 and the surrounding area would make it closer to 200,000. The reporters usually go to all important events, and collect information from the AP and other news sources. The newspaper is over 100 years old.

Most people like to read the newspaper for the latest news, and pictures of people who are doers in the community. They also report on the crimes that are being committed daily and the important court cases. We can find the information on the shows, free events, museums, schools, politics. It is a large area that is being covered, and the reporters are the ones doing the job for the public.

The multimedia journalist would produce content for all platforms and work the digital desk as needed. The individual must possess strong traditional reporting and writing skills as well as strong digital skills. The ability to shoot and edit video and still photos( or the aptitude to learn). They should have a strong understanding of the importance of social media to a 21st century news organization and the ability to work as part of a nimble newsroom team.
