The citizens of Puyallup and surrounding communities are very excited for February 2011 when Multicare Good Samaritan Hospital opens their patient care tower, currently under construction.
Located in the heart of the City of Puyallup , the new hospital will be equipped to meet the needs of the community for years to come.
Standing nine stories tall, the new facility will come fully loaded with state of the art technology.
The new patient care tower, which is 75% larger than the current hospital and covers 357,000 square feet, will include an emergency department with 42 treatment rooms and four trauma rooms equipped to handle the growth of the community for many years to come, six operating rooms and two cardiac-catheterization laboratories.
Eighty large private rooms will cover floors five and six and, for future use, floors seven and eight will be shelled for 80 additional private patient rooms.
Private rooms come equipped with radio frequency identifications (RFIDs) which track everything for another layer of safety. For example, if a patient is not in their room, using RFID they can be tracked with just a few keystrokes.
RFID is just one of the enhancements that The Board of Trustees of Good Samaritan Foundation has been able to provide through The Campaign for Good Samaritan Hospital.
By approaching area residents, businesses and foundations for support they set their goal to raise $10 million.
Through those efforts, the Campaign has been able to add many enhancements to the new hospital setting.
This huge project will be completed three weeks ahead of schedule and on budget and will be open to the public for tours on February 9 through 13. On February 17 at 3:30 a.m. the emergency department will open their doors and welcome the first patient.
