Muhammad Ali ailing; Watched Super Bowl and not on verge of death, says family (Video)

Legendary boxer Muhammad Ali's family on Feb. 4, 2013, denied a London newspaper's report which said that the former heavyweight champion was on death bed.

Bob Gunnell, spokesperson for Ali said that Ali was watching the Super Bowl supporting the Baltimore Ravens in his Phoenix area home.

May, Ali's daughter, also confirmed to the Associated Press that Ali was watching the game.

The Sun newspaper had earlier quoted Rahman, Ali's brother, saying Ali's death is imminent. He said that his brother can’t speak and doesn't recognize him.

He said that Ali is very sick and it could be months or a matter of days. His brother is in God's hands and he hopes that he gently passes away.

Ali, 71, has been suffering from Parkinson's disease since 1984. Though he looks frail, he made several public appearances over the last several months.

Ali's hometown newspaper, The Louisville Courier-Journal, contacted Gunnell, who disputed The Sun report and said that Ali is having a Super Bowl party. Ali made his last public appearance in January at the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.
