Over the weekend, it was revealed that one of the stars of A&E’s “Shipping Wars,” Roy Garber, had suffered a heart attack and died. His cat Muffy, a “fixture on the show,” according to a Jan. 20, 2014 TMZ report, is safe and headed to a loving home.
Garber refused to travel anywhere without Muffy, who was by his side when he died on Friday, Jan. 17, the reality cast member’s girlfriend told TMZ.
Texas authorities informed the tabloid website that Garber’s family is shipping Muffy to his home state – New Hampshire – where she will reside with his mother.
Variety reports that Garber passed away just two days after “Shipping Wars” finished filming its fifth season on Jan. 15.
According to A&E’s “Shipping Wars” website, Garber, who started Arbie’s Team Transport after raising his son, “is one of the top earners in the country.”
His bio notes Garber supported his son, Travis, by “running a small home building and remodeling company.”
According to A&E, Garber also “sometimes heads to the deep waters of the Gulf Coast in pursuit of the largest Shark he can find.”
Starcasm reports, the “Shipping Wars” Facebook page shared a post Saturday night, which read, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of a member of the A&E family. Our thoughts are with Roy’s loved ones during this difficult time. He will be missed.”
Garber was reportedly 49.
