It has been reported by his wife and his publicist that Robin Williams was found dead today shortly before noon in his home in California. Robin was 63 years old and his publicist has reported that he was recently suffering from depression.
Depression is an insidious monster that can eat away at someone’s heart and soul until they feel that there is nothing left to do but end it. Nobody would have suspected this funny man was depressed.
Last year Robin was co-starring in a sit-com with Sarah Michelle Gellar in The Crazy Ones. The Crazy Ones was cancelled and one has to wonder if that played a part in the 63 year old's bout with recent depression.
His death is currently under investigation and his family is asking for privacy at this time. His wife/widow released this statement to the press:
"This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings," his wife, Susan Schneider, said in a statement. "I am utterly heartbroken. On behalf of Robin's family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin's death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions."
America has truly lost one of our treasures today with the loss of Robin Williams. Let's pray for his family that they are able to get through this time of deep grief and mourning.
