The Egyptian-Algerian football war shows no signs of cooling off. (See"The Egyptian-Algerian football war.") On November 21, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak addressed the Egyptian Parliament on the subject. Upset and angry, he declared: “I want to say in clear words that the dignity of Egyptians is part of the dignity of Egypt. . . . Egypt does not tolerate those who hurt the dignity of its sons."
According to the Saudi Gazette, some in Egypt are demanding the expulsion of Algeria's ambassador to Egypt, as well as economic and cultural sanctions. However, Mubarak signaled that he does not want the situation to get out of control: "We don’t want to be drawn into impulsive reactions. I am agitated too, but I restrain myself.”
Earlier, in Algeria on November 20, the Foreign Ministry summoned the Egyptian ambassador to complain about the "escalating media campaign" in Egypt.
More details on the original incident, the November 14 stoning of the Algerian team's bus in Cairo: Michel Gaillaud, a French doctor with the Algerian players in their bus, recalled a rock thrown with such force that it went in one window and out the opposite window. A rock narrowly missed forward Karim Matmour. Gaillaud said: ""He felt the stone whizz past his head. He was as white as a sheet. . . .
We were bombarded with stones. People were screaming. We were lying on the floor. Someone started shouting, 'There's blood! There's blood!'" Some of the Algerians had to play with bandaged heads and other injuries.
Journalist Graeme Wood, in Cairo the night Egypt beat Algeria 2-0, noted "the orgy of celebratory rioting and pyromania after the first match." Egyptians ignited aerosol cans, burning Wood's hair: "I picked up one of the spent aerosol cans off the ground. It said "PYRO SOL" on it, which leads me to believe there is a brand specifically marketed to rioters who wish to create enormous fireballs in city streets."
After Egypt lost to Algeria, 1-0, in Khartoum, Algerians in Egypt, mostly students, experienced hostility and violence. The end is not in sight.

Comments
the fennecs were the best team so the egyptien should get over it.
"I picked up one of the spent aerosol cans off the ground. It said "PYRO SOL" on it, which leads me to believe there is a brand specifically marketed to rioters who wish to create enormous fireballs in city streets.".....This reporter is doing a great job making up crap; Pyrosol is an Egyptian insecticide spray that has been around for decades. Its name has nothing to do with "marketing to rioters". People use it to create fireballs just because it is available in stores.
Plus, that reporters is biased, he only reported what the Algerians claim the Egyptian fans did to them. He didn't report what the Barbarian Algerians did to the Egyptians in Sudan.
Are you retarded? What did they do? The pictures of Algerians holding knives were proven to be fake; the Egyptian celebrity claiming to be under attack was caught lying; the bus drive on national Egyptian TV was proven to be an impostor.
Why not just quit lying? Damn.
EASYGOING: It has nothing to do with losing the game. Actually if the Egyptians won the game, the Algerians would have done far more barbarian acts against the Egyptian fans.
I don't get it. The Egyptian president is mad at Algerians because Egyptians are throwing rocks and bombs. Well actually I do get it, but your article is written in such a bad way that no one would understand. The Egyptian president is directing his anger at what hapened after the game in Sudan. Algerians with knives and other weapons threatened Egyptians' lives. Egyptians had to take shelter, and they were under the threat of dying any second. Stop writing nonsense please.
EGYPT ...YOU HAVE TO ACCEPT THE FACT THAT YOU ARE A LOSER..
While the media to you may have blown this out of proportion, dont for a second think that this is not as severe as they depict it. My friends, people i care about, have stitches in their heads from being stoned in Sudan. Those same people i care about called me crying, afraid for their lives from Khartoum. People i know took knives in their backs trying to protect women and children from the stones, knives and glass that was raining on them from the Algerians. Egypt did NOT have 25 thousand at the game. Your sources and information are beyond incorrect. Egypt, as it was told by sudan, abided by its limit of 18 thousand supporters to attend the game in Khartoum. Algeria, which was instructed to do the same, sent some 30 thousand to the stadium. Egyptians who attended the game were actors, singers, doctors, lawyers, business men. Algerians who were there, who regularly would require a visa to enter Sudan yet were excused, were there 3 days before the game, purchasing knives and machetes
1:egyptians companies were destroyed in algeria after beating them in cairo stadium 2-0
1. Attacking Egyptians (Men,Women and kids) with swords and knives and flare in Sudans.
2. France: 63 people were arrested and four shop windows were smashed on the Champs Elysees, Paris. (AFP).
3. Algeria: Fourteen people have been killed during rallies held to welcome the country's football team after winning in Wednesday's World Cup qualifier against Egypt. Some 250 others were injured during the celebrations.
To Peter: "..at what happened after the game in Sudan. ..." . What happened in Sudan after the game was nothing more than what would and is happening between say German and Brittan fans (actually there were incidents of people getting killed in the so called civilized countries). Anyways, the knifes story is a bunch of lies and there are no supporting evidence of it, and even if it did happen, it happened from a bunch of fans who got extreme due what their national and official delegation had suffered in Egypt with no apology and the FIFA letting the game continue. Had this happened to any say European team, the FIFA would have canceled the game, forfeited or moved to another neutral country.
And finally the greens won and 1.2.3 VIVA L'Agerie (Long Live Algeria).
The Mubaraks are in state of Coma. They tried to use the soccer world cup to boost the popularity of future king and the plan failed. The Algerians gave them a life lesson. They humiliated them live and all the world enjoyed it. The humiliation is so big that it going to take them years to recover.
Lesson 1:Don't mess with the Algerians.
Lesson 2: Next time you play with the Algerian bring your men supporters not actresses.
Lesson 3: Inside the stadium play soccer not politics.
Lesson 4: The Mubaraks are bad luck to Egyptian national soccer team.
The algerians claimed to be attacked in cairo and they produced proofs of it (video from international TV, photos from independant reporters..). You egyptians you claim to be attacked in sudan but you can't produce any proof of it.
You are just angry because what you consider being "inferior to you" had betten you in fair-play, just get over it
THIS IS JUST THE BEGINING ?????????
no more egypte

EPIC FAIL THIS REPORT IS SO ONE SIDED
It's sad that situation has reached as this..it was just a 'football' game to see. In the end, it was not! All I can say is..for all who give their opinion and comments, look and get facts around the world...don't just judge by what single thing you see or hear. Whoever, whatever, each has the right to be given the benefit of the doubt. THE BEST OF PLANNER IF THE ONE UP! No matter who plans...the TRUTH WILL PREVAIL IN THE END AT THE RIGHT TIME!
THE MEDIA ...OUR SO-CALLED ONE SIDED MEDIA --- STARTED ALL OF THE WRONG FACTS AND WRONG NEWS....!!!!
no one know,. and no one say the true, barbarian algerians can't be like the other people in the world and like the egyptians actors and writers how came to the match , they starting that the writer completed. completed lie and changing for the true
is our writer know that barbarian algerians system send to the match 18 army plan with Prisoners and Militia to watch the match for free just to make no this.just write the true to be more dignity like algerians
we need egypt again
I have known eagyptians as teachers, people, politicians and as diplomats. Well! they have nothing to be proud of. They are two faced boot-licker hypocrits who would sell their mothers, wives and daughters for a few dollars. Algeria would be glad to see the back of each one of them. Good riddens. Egyptians have amassed fortunes "allegedly working" in Algeria, when the only thing they did is distroy Algeria's system of education ..etc by their incompetence, inefficiency and intent to keep algerians ignorant! However, Algeria has for a long time understood their game but the "Arab Fraternity" has meant that some Algerian politicians kept sweeping the problems under the carpet instead of exposing the destruction caused by egypt at all levels. Now, even the politicians say that is enough. Algerians have nothing in common with the self-centred egyptians at the heart of all the ills suffered by the Arab world for decades. We do not have same future. We Algerians are proud Berbers and Arabs.
Got something to say?
