Beyonce was the biggest winner of the night at the MTV awards. Queen Bey brought down the house with a 20 minute medley of songs from her self titled "BEYONCE" visual album. The singer was presented with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Lifetime Achievement award by her husband Jay-Z who brought their daughter Blue Ivy on stage. Beyonce was given three other awards for :Best Video with a Social Message ("Pretty Hurts"). Best Collaboration ("Drunk in Love") and Best Cinematography ("Pretty Hurts").
We were both amazed and dismayed by some of the looks on the red carpet. Here is a rundown of our Best and Worst dressed celebrities of the night.
Best Dressed: Jennifer Lopez in Charbel Zoe. JLo was hands down the best dressed celeb on the carpet. We thought the multi-hyphenate actress/singer/dancer looked sexy in her sparkling cutout dress.
Beyonce wore a custom Tom Ford outfit on stage. It was similar to a mirrored design that the singer donned to the premiere screening of her visual album last winter. The Video Vanguard winner showed off her curves in a black Nicolas Jebran gown on the carpet.
Rita Ora in Donna Karan Atelier.
Demi Lovato in Lanvin.
Iggy Azalea in strapless Versace.
Nicki Minaj in a fitted animal print dress.
Miley Cyrus in Alexandre Vauthier Couture.
Nina Dobrev in Zuhair Murad.
Kendall Jenner in a La Perla bra with a sheer top and pants by Alon Livne.
Gwen Stefani in Lamb Couture.
Solange in H&M.
Lucy Hale in a leather Sachin & Babi crop top.
Several supermodels stood out in Balmain including Beyonce's "Yonce" posse members Chanel Iman, Joan Smalls and Jourdan Dunn.
The Worst Dressed of the night was Amber Rose. Kanye West's former flame wore next to nothing in a horrible chain outfit that left little to the imagination. We don't know why her husband rapper Wiz Khalifa allowed her to leave the house looking like a hot mess.
Katy Perry took home the runner up award for worst dressed in her throwback denim ensemble. The pop star wore custom Versace which looked like a rip off of an old Britney Spears outfit from the 90's. We weren't impressed that her date was wack rapper Riff Raff. Is it possible for someone to wear too much day glo cornrows, tacky grills and poorly groomed facial hair?
Kim Kardashian in Balmain. Kim K was engulfed in too much fabric and unflattering cleavage on the carpet. We did love her Balmain heels but the look seemed to overwhelm the petite reality star.
We weren't fans of Taylor Swift's look in a printed romper by Mary Katrantzou. Taylor usually hits the fashion out of the park. That is why we were so shocked that she decided to dress like a cat lady who raided the frumpy closet of Lena Dunham's character on the HBO series Girls. The outfit was so unflattering on her slender frame. Taylor always dresses like a rockstar. Hopefully she can find her style mojo again while transitioning to a new genre of music.
Ariana Grande tried too hard to look like a barely legal dominatrix in a leather top and skirt by Moschino and over the knee boots.
Chloe Grace Moretz wore a red top and pink pants by Louis Vuitton.
