The nation was shocked by Miley Cyrus and her raunchy crotch grabbing performance at the MTV VMA's. We still haven't recovered from the image of the former child star wearing a butt baring nude bikini which inspired the Twitter trending topic #MileyAssSmallerThan for an entire day.
We wanted to share the highs and lows of red carpet fashion at the event which brought a few surprises.
Selena Gomez was our biggest girl crush at the event. The former Disney star has made a graceful transition into adulthood with a bustier revealing Atelier Versace dress. Miley Cyrus needs to get fashion lessons from the 'Come and Get It' singer. Miley seems to be borrowing inspiration from every edgy female pop star she can find on Google. Her vintage Dolce & Gabbana felt like a Madonna outfit and her hair was Gwen Stefani circa late 1990's. The girl is definitely a hot mess and not in a good way.
Glee actress Naya Rivera showed off her curves in a form fitting Paco Rabanne dress with cutouts. Her high wattage makeup was the perfect compliment to the look. Taylor Swift also kept things glam with a Herve Leger dress. We liked that she kept her jewelry simple to focus our attention on the low cut of her gown. Taylor completed her look by wearing her hair in soft pin-up curls. Allison Williams wore an ivory Valentino dress and we looked the simplicity of her look by accessorizing with black pumps. We were surprised that Lady Gaga looked pretty **gasp** "normal in a custom black Prabal Gurung gown. The worst dressed was model Erin Wasson. The supermodel has an amazing body but even she couldn't convince us that her see-through Alexandre Vauthier Couture panties outfit was a complete ensemble. The head turban was another eye sore...yikes.
Honorable Mention of Worst Red Carpet Fashion Accessory : Grills.
Katy Perry wore a blinged out mouthpiece to the VMAs. Madonna has worn a grill. Miley Cyrus has been sporting them too. These are signs that gold mouth bling has jumped the shark and is definitely on the way out because it is not pretty or very ladylike. We can't wait until this hideous fashion trend is over.
