Performers at this years event included top-dog rap-pop diva Nicki Minaj, Usher, Taylor Swift, Maroon Five, Iggy Azalea, not to mention new pop darling Ariana Grande and a handful of others. (Of course, the VMAs would be nothing without Kanye West's favorite singer, Beyoncé, so she had a set, too.)
This year, MTV.com hosted audience cams, pre-show video and exclusive performance rehearsal footage. Check out tons of coverage here now.
Our favorite red carpet look was, for all the wrong reasons, Miley Cyrus. And yes, her favorite accessory is still her tongue; though we used her for our article photo, we spared you by using one without full tongue on display. You're welcome. (Maybe pass this article along on Facebook, tweet or pin it as a reward for our thoughtfulness? Just an idea.)
Congratulations to all the winners; speaking of which, stay tuned for a full list of VMA 2014 winners coming soon!
And get well to hip-hop mogul Suge Knight, who was reportedly shot multiple times at a pre-VMA event at Hollywood nightclub 1OAK on Saturday night; our thoughts are with the two other people who were reportedly also shot. Knight has since undergone surgery and is expected to pull through.
Rapper Chris Brown, who was holding the event at the nightclub before this weekend's Video Music Awards, reacted to the shooting on Twitter. "It's disappointing that we as a society can't have fun or enjoy ourselves without any altercations sometimes," Brown tweeted Sunday. "Miss me with the bulls---!!!"
