MTV’s Teen Wolf transforms for it’s fourth season

The MTV series loosely based on the 1985 film of the same name Teen Wolf returns for its fourth season. The TV version of the Michael J. Fox comedy takes a more serious approach more like early Buffy the Vampire Slayer taking the horror to high school.

The show initially followed Scott McCall as he struggles to balance his teenage life with that of his werewolf alter ego with the help of his best friend Stiles and the mysterious werewolf Derek, while trying to keep it all a secret from his girlfriend’s werewolf hunting family. As the show has progressed it has taken a darker tone, stepping away the focus from just the teen angst of it all and more directly into the dark underworld of the werewolves and other supernatural creatures that inhabit this world.

Last season brought a whole new Alpha pack to town that has heightened the danger in Beacon Hills, but as if that wasn’t enough there is a series of murders using the victims as human sacrifices. The addition of a mysterious newcomer with unexpected abilities amps things up and ends with not only Stiles, Scott, and Allison sacrificing themselves, but learning that their interactions from the beginning weren’t as coincidental as they once thought. The season left fans hanging with a new threat looming involving one of their own that is sure to change everything.

The new season picks up two months later with them still dealing with tragic losses as they return to a new semester of school, but the surprising resurrection brings a new threat to Beacon Hills with the emergence of the mysterious enemy The Benefactor.

Head back to school and transform with the full moon when season 4 of Teen Wolf premieres on MTV on June 23, 2014.
