As the pieces are still being put together to identify the ultimate cause of Adam 'DJ AM' Goldstein's death, MTV has a large decision to make. Should they still air “Gone Too Far” a reality TV series in which Adam developed and hosted which was set to premier on October 5th?

The eight-episode reality TV series documented young adults between the ages of 18-25 as they struggled with substance abuse and the devastating addictions that threaten to destroy them and the people who love them most.

Adam stated in recent interviews, “I struggled for years as a drug addict and was fortunate to get help when I asked for it. I have managed to live a clean and sober life, something that takes work and something that I pride myself on. “Gone Too Far” is my platform to help people, like I was helped by giving back in a way. … We wanted to show how real it gets and what can happen if you don’t get help.”

He also recently told the Associated Press while promoting his upcoming MTV reality show “Gone Too Far,” about getting users off drugs that while filming the show he held a crack pipe for the first time in years, but that a guardian angel was looking after him.

"There's no better way to remember what it was like when I was at my bottom than to see someone at their bottom," he told AP.

There is no reason for them not to air it. This could potentially save lives, and in light of DJ AM's death could quite possibly save more lives than they originally thought.

The generation MTV is geared to is just beyond help is so many aspects of life. The drugs these kids do are appallingly strong & addictive & they will not care whether or not someone got "clean" or not, because they believe themselves to be untouchable & that bad things won't happen to them. They are exposed to & are having sex at alarmingly young ages, a large percentage of them refusing to use safe sex practices, because they believe that AIDS, herpes, hepatitis, etc. won't happen to them! The apathy they have for the ugly side of life is scary & I suspect that no matter whether this show is shown or not, they will not relate nor care about the people in the show. Until they are faced with their own ugliness & problems by truly looking at themselves or know someone personally that dies from a drug overdose or from AIDS or other STDs & preventable illnesses, they'll continue to believe themselves untouchable & will worship at the altar of the drug & sex culture they grew up in.

It is a sad coincidence about DJ AM and the documentary he made with MTV, however, if it is determined that DJ AM in fact died of a drug overdose then the documentary should still be shown. It would be a tribute to DJ AM on how hard it was for him and to show those who need help the importance of staying sober. I am not speaking from experience and my intentions are not to offend anyone, I just feel to continue forward with the documentary could still be a positive influence on some. Drug use is and probably always will be a very important issue to keep awareness of.

My sincerest condolences to DJ AM’s family and friends. From a fans perspective he portrayed himself as a very giving and talented human being.
