"Orange Is the New Black" star Laverne Cox will guest star in an episode of MTV's "Faking It" during Season 2, EW.com first reported on Tuesday (Sept. 2). The Emmy-nominated actress will play the director of Hester High's elite drama club.
Her character Margot, an alum of the school, is described as "demanding, intense and full of herself," and believes that she's a big fish in a small pond. She's also known for a grueling audition process where she "puts hopefuls through a ghastly series of exercises, all designed to strip them down to their cores."
The MTV comedy has also added two new characters to its cast for the upcoming second season. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Yvette Monreal ("Awkward") and Keith Powers ("Pretty Little Liars") have joined the series in recurring roles. Monreal will play the hip, edgy and rebellious Regan, a cater-waiter by day and DJ by night who's also an out and proud lesbian. Powers will portray Liam's (Gregg Sulkin) laid back friend Theo, who enjoys "working on cars, playing pool and making girls blush," including Lauren (Bailey Buntain).
Season 2 will see everyone faced with a dilemma that forces them to tell the truth or keep a secret as best friends Amy (Rita Volk) and Karma (Katie Stevens) struggle with figuring out their relationship after Amy revealed her true feelings for Karma.
Cox, who plays inmate Sophia Burset on the Netflix series "Orange Is the New Black," will also guest star on Bravo's new scripted series "Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce." Her other TV credits include "Law & Order" and "Bored to Death."
"Faking It" returns for Season 2 on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 10:30/9:30 p.m. CT on MTV.
