Mt. Blue high school 2013 girls tennis preview

The Mt. Blue Cougars girls tennis team will be looking to improve on a 5-7 record from last season.

"(We expect) to make the playoffs, strive for the sportsmanship award,"Mt. Blue girls tennis coach Judy Upham said. "These girls work very hard. They are good ambassadors for the sport of tennis and for their school."

The Cougars have six players returning who held positions on the varsity team last season.

Upham has strong newcomers that will be challenging for spots on the team as the Cougars go through a very tough schedule.

"We play the perennially strong teams of Brunswick, Lewiston, and Mt. Ararat twice each during the season,"Upham said. "There are several strong new players, but the season is too young to tell who might also be in contention for a position."

Mackenzie Conlogue, Makenzie Thompson, Cassidy Bigos, Lauren Lundy, Alyssa White, Savannah Swain, Lucy Celon are returning players who will be vying for the singles and doubles positions.

Mt. Blue will play their season opener on April 22nd when they host Mt. Ararat.
