MSNBC host: Carlson should have called for Sarah Palin's execution

On a recent edition of MSNBC's The Ed Show, guest host Cenk Uygur equated legal hunting with illegal animal torture and called Tucker Carlson a hypocrite for not calling for Sarah Palin's execution.

Mediaite reports:

After showing the clip of Carlson reprimanding Vick on the Ed Show’s regular “Psycho Talk” segment and giving him a textbook lashing on capital punishment from the christian standpoint– “Would Jesus have called for retribution in blood?”– Uygur called Carlson out for hypocrisy, noting that what Vick did was a horrible thing, but that he paid his dues, and at some point should be allowed a second chance. Then he showed a clip of what he appeared to want to convey to the audience was a similar instance of animal abuse that had not gone similarly punished: Sarah Palin hunting Caribou on her TLC reality show.

“I know there’s a difference, but is it really that large,” Uygur asked.

The answer, of course, is yes.

One activity is illegal (cruelty to domestic animals) and the other is legal (hunting).  But Uygur apparently does not see the difference.

There is another disturbing aspect to this monologue.

Does Uygur actually support killing Sarah Palin?  Seems he has some explaining to do in this regard.

Imagine the outcry from liberals if any conservative ever said such a thing about a prominent liberal.

Liberals have a seething hatred of the former Alaska governor, but some go too far.

A recent Salon article prompted one reader to post:

“Let’s let Michael Vick keep Sarah Palin as a pet instead of a dog. It will be safer for dogs and maybe we’ll get the satisfaction of having Vick electrocute Palin! You know that after listening to that voice for longer than 30-seconds Vick would be lunging for the cattle prods.

“Vick gets a pet to torture and we get rid of Palin. A win-win for everyone!”

A post at WRAL noted the response was written on Friday, December 17, 2010 at 12:33 PM ET, however the post has since been pulled.

But the incident broadcast on MSNBC is only the latest implied death wish by hosts of The Ed Show.

Ed Shultz once had a good laugh when a guest on his radio program said she wanted to invent a collar that would electrocute Glenn Beck.

Uygur and the hosts at MSNBC are entitled to their opinion, but there is a fine line between hyperbole and unhinged hatred.  Tucker may have gone too far with his hyperbole, but Uygur crossed the line by implying Palin should be executed for hunting caribou.
