According to MSNBC.com, while doing a recent report http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/44073751/ns/local_news-san_diego_ca/t/illegal-immigrant-interns-state-capitol/ on students who will benefit from California’s DREAM Act which extends financial aid to illegal aliens attending college in California, they came across a particularly fine student the reporter refers to simply as “Sergio.”
Sergio attends San Diego State University and is currently interning at the California State Capitol. At 21, the illegal alien has already received several paid fellowships, including two with State Assembly Members Tony Mendoza (AD-56) and Marty Block (AD-78).
Throughout the article, Sergio describes not only his love of politics, but his involvement in actually influencing Assembly members’ votes on various bills.
Sergio said: “I remember having a conversation with some of my friends and they were like, ‘How is it that you are such a political freak and you haven't been able to vote here in the United States or in Mexico?’And I'm like, 'There are other ways in which I can actually influence the political atmosphere with a more direct way.'”
“For example, when I was working with Assembly Member Mendoza or Assembly Member Block's office, I was actually advising the member on how to vote on certain things by collecting information, by analyzing bills, by doing things that other people are not able to do…It was analyzing the bills, the positions and how he would feel about it and all that kind of stuff. It was awesome.”
Sergio also claims that Assembly member Mendoza knew he was in the country illegally when he began his fellowship.
“On that first fellowship, I sent my application, (and) I said that I was undocumented. I actually implied it. I do not say it directly, but people figured it out. And then they knew that I was undocumented. Pretty much all the staff at the Capitol and even the Member read it.”
Assemblyman Mendoza unapologetically told MSNBC: “He is one of the best and brightest our community has to offer, it would be a great loss if we don't embrace students like that. He did a great job in our office. These individuals deserve the right to be employed in our country.”
Of course, the left-leaning network failed to mention the fact that while Mexican nationals such as “Sergio” can engage in political activities in this country without any fear of arrest, Mexico does not extend such ‘rights’ to foreign nationals in their country.
The Mexican Constitution forbids non-citizens from participation in any political event, rally or demonstration. According to Mexican law: “Foreigners shall not in any way involve themselves in the political matters of the country.”
It is more than hypocritical that someone inside this country illegally is allowed to involve himself in political activity, is actually paid to do so and the reporter covering the story (Lindsay Hood) fails to dig deeply enough to see or simply ignores the fact that the illegal alien’s home country forbids such actions.
Just another example of the biased nature of this nation’s mainstream press…Of course, we are not supposed to notice this.
