Mrs. P's Magic Library has unveiled a new children's reading challenge game to help kids brush up on their reading skills ahead of the new school year.
The game features five stories from MrsP.com, the free, Portland-based children's reading website -- The Emporer's New Clothes, The Princess and the Pea, The Frog Prince and the two winning stories from last year's writing contest, Pretty Princess and Funky Frog and Spattered Mud and Crushed Petals.
Each story is followed by a series of questions to see how well you remember what you read. Four out of five correct questions wins a pot of gold!
"Mrs. P knows the importance of summer reading," says actress Kathy Kinney, who portrays Mrs. P and is a co-founder of MrsP.com. "Studies have told us time and again that children who read during the summer do much better in school when it starts again in the fall. Knowing that kids are going to be on the computer during these summer months, my Magic library is a good place to help them keep up with their reading."
