Mrs. P's 2nd annual writing contest for kids begins September 1, 2010

Mrs. P's "Be a Famous Writer Contest" is an excellent way to get kids between the ages of 4 and 13 to tap into their creativity.  Mrs. P invites children residing in the United States to write an original story on any topic, fiction or non-fiction.  Stories must be at least 250 words but can not be more than 1,000 words.  The contest is divided into two age categories.  Kids ages 4 to 8 years old will be in one category.  Kids ages 9 to 13 will be in the other category.  Entries will be accepted from September 1, 2010 through October 15, 2010.

Two Grand Prize winners will have their stories read by Mrs. P on her website.  The two Grand Prize winners will also have original illustrations created for their stories.  They will receive a copy of their story in addition to having it posted on the MrsP.com website (http://www.mrsp.com/) where it can be viewed by everyone.  MrsP Enterprises, LLC pays all of the costs for producing the winning story and video.  Both grand prize winners will each receive one $25 gift certificate to Powells.com.  Up to 8 runners up may receive $25 gift certificates to Powells.com as well.  Last year's winning stories can be read by clicking the blue ribbon inside Mrs. P's Magic Library (http://www.mrsp.com/v1/mrsp.html).

This year's contest judges are well known for their own creativity.  Meg Cabot is the author of the Princess Diaries series, which has been made into hit movies by Disney.  Jim Davis is the creator of Garfield the Cat.  Danny Kallis is a television writer and producer and creator of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and The Suite Life on Deck, two of the most popular shows in Disney Channel history.  Mrs. P (actress Kathy Kinney) will also judge the entries.  Kathy Kinney starred on The Drew Carey Show for nine years and currently appears on The Secret Life of the American Teenager.  She was recently featured on Oprah.com for co-writing the book, Queen of Your Own Life

Clay Graham, Kathy Kinney, and Dana Plautz are the creative minds behind MrsP.com.  The goal of the award winning, FREE, interactive digital storybook website is to give kids the experience of having a skilled storyteller read them classic literature.  Mrs. P reads classic children's stories that have survived the test of time.

The stories from Mrs. P are streamed free of charge on the MrsP.com website.  Viewers wishing to purchase a story for viewing can buy them from the iTunes Store.  Mrs.P.com donates 10% of profits to groups that promote the cause of literacy.
