Mr. Bean's $1.4M car repair bill raises eyebrows

The $1.4 million cost of Mr. Bean's car repair is enough to make anyone do a double-take. Actor Rowan Atkinson has his insurance company to thank for paying the bill, though, which according to a report from Friday (Feb. 8) is the biggest repair bill ever in Britain.

Atkinson is best known for his role as Mr. Bean, appearing in several films and television shows as the character. He has also been seen in the films "Johnny English," "Love Actually," and "Rat Race." His iconic character is what Atkinson will always be best known for though.

As for his car, Atkinson crashed his McLaren F1 in 2011 for the second time. The car can go as fast as 240 miles per hour and is basically a really fast race car. Atkinson purchased it back in 1997 for a price tag of $1 million, but inflation and parts made the cost of repair pretty high for it.

Though the crash of his beloved car took place back in 2011, it took a long time for McLaren technicians to do a lot of work on the car. The manual labor and time spent on the repairs certainly aided in raising the overall repair bill cost of $1.4 million to fix Mr. Bean's car. Another reason is that the car is made mostly of carbon fiber.
