Moyse to attend 2014 Youth Olympic Games

According to the Canadian Olympic Committee in a press release on Monday, Canadian Olympic gold medalist Heather Moyse of Summerside, Prince Edward Island will participate as an athlete role model in the culture and education program at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games from August 16-28 in Nanjing, China.

Moyse won a gold medal with Kaillie Humphries of Calgary in women's bobsled at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver and the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.

Moyse is also a summer sports athlete as she has represented Canada at the 2006 and 2010 Rugby World Cup.

This will be the second Youth Olympic Games. The first took place in Singapore in 2010. Canada finished in 14th place in the medal standings with 14 medals-- three gold medals, one silver medal and eight bronze medals. The Canadian gold medalists were Dorothy Yeats of Montreal, Quebec in the women's 70 kilogram wrestling competition, Rachel Nicol of Lethbridge, Alberta in the women's 50m swimming breaststroke and Tera van Beilen of Oakville, Ontario in the women's 100m swimming breaststroke.
