The Moxie Girlz line of dolls was introduced in 2009 by MGA Entertainment and targeted at young doll collectors. A year later, MGA introduced the Moxie Teenz dolls for older girls. At 14" tall, the Moxie Teenz fall between the normal 11 1/2" Barbie-sized fashion dolls and the newer, popular 16" tall fashion dolls like Gene and Tyler.
The Moxie Teenz dolls resemble Liv dolls more than they do the Moxie Girlz dolls. Like their Liv counterparts from SpinMaster, the MGA Moxie Teenz dolls feature lovely inset eyes and a variety of wigs. The Moxie Teenz line also features rooted eyelashes.
The line includes: Arizona with dark brown hair, dark blue eyes, and tan skin tone; Bijou with light brown hair, hazel eyes, and dark skin tone; Tristen: with black hair, purple eyes, and pale skin tone; Melrose: with blonde hair, light blue eyes, and light skin tone; Leigh with red hair, green eyes, and pale skin tone; and the token boy, Gavin, with brunette hair and light skin.
The earliest dolls came with painted on hair under their wigs like Liv (and the Fashion Queen dolls from Mattel) whereas the newer dolls appear to have rooted hair. The dolls sell for between $14.99 and $26.99 in toy stores although I bought my first and only Moxie Teenz doll at Toys R Us in Nashville for only $2 on clearance.
