The upcoming Chronicle appears to have all the necessary ingredients to make it this weekend's big box office success story: an intriguing storyline, impressive special effects and heavy promotion. Who hasn't seen those "Guy waves his hand, and truck goes off the road" trailers by now? There was even a guerrilla marketing campaign where what looked like "flying people" were soaring all over New York. With a number of positive reviews already coming in from critics, clearly this will be the movie to beat this weekend.
Monroe residents can catch 'Chronicle' and all the other movies on this list at Cinemark Cinema 10, located in the Pecanland Mall at 4700 Millhaven Rd. in Monroe, or at Cinemark Tinseltown, 220 Blanchard St. in West Monroe.
Chronicle tells the story of three friends, Andrew, Steve and Matt who happen upon a mysterious object which grants them all superhuman abilities. Slowly the three of them start to become more and more powerful until their abilities get out of control. The first trailer for Chronicle is available in the sidereel to the left.
