Albuquerque may no longer have functioning drive-in theaters, but Movies in the Park is the next best thing. Bernalillo County Parks & Recreation hosts their summer annual Movies in the Park that showcases family-friendly movies on an inflatable big screen as families sit on the grass and enjoy the show. The movie viewings are free and you can even bring your own food and drink, but no alcoholic beverages are allowed. There are food vendors on site if you wish to purchase food. You may also bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit on while you watch the movies. This event is open for anyone to participate in and all shows begin at dusk. Call 505-314-0477 if you'd like additional information.

The park location that hosts the movie on the big screen changes each time to give opportunities for many families around Albuquerque to take advantage of this free event. Movies are shown on Fridays and Saturdays during the summer. See here for a list of movie titles and dates. Movie titles include Monsters University, Iron Man 3, The Lego Movie, The Hobbit, Smurfs 2 and others. Movies in the Park runs from April 26th to August 23rd and is subject to cancellation due to weather.
